Cutting techniques are to hair as the abc's are to words. You have to know what order the letters are in, what each one sounds like by itself, & what they sound like when put together with other letters. With hair it is very much the same way. The technical training is very important and not just a few days of it, more like at least a year of it.  Technical training teaches you what each cutting technique will do on its own & when it's combined with other techniques. It's a must have to lay the foundation for haircutting. Then you can add your own flare & create your own looks specifically for each individual client. After all you need to know the sounds before you can create your own words.

The cuticle is the outermost layer of the hair. It is also transparent.So it's like a window. If the cuticle is healthy its like looking through a clear, clean window on a bright summer day. You are able to see all of the colors on the other side. The green of the trees, the blue of the sky, etc... A damaged cuticle is like trying to see the same view through scratched up plexiglass, YUK!  The cuticle layer is opened up during a chemical process to allow the changes to be made in the cortex layer of the hair. That why it is very important to know what to use on the hair and what it will do! Keeping the cuticle healthy is a very important part of what makes the hair look & feel healthy & shiny!
